The Hindhead Tunnel
Four years after work began on replacing the old A3 at the Devil's Punchbowl, the Hindhead Tunnel is finally due to open.
The 1.2-mile stretch of road is the longest of its type in the UK and has cost £371 million to build.
It is set to improve journey times for commuters, removing the bottle neck at the Punchbowl.
There will also be big improvements for the village of Hindhead, with through-traffic now diverted through the tunnel.
And the environment is set to benefit too, with Hindhead Common and the Devil's Punchbowl finally re-joining as one continuous landscape for the first time in 100 years.
Here you can find out all
you need to know about the Hindhead Tunnel.
