This course is essential for:
Those who use online & social media in businesses
Education staff who want to explore the issue in schools
You will learn:
The key 'dos' and 'don'ts' of online activity
The legal and reputation risks (to individuals and organisations)

This course is for people from small/medium enterprises or charities that want to handle their own PR. These organisations are often doing newsworthy things that they haven’t told anyone about – because they don’t connect the dots.
You will learn:
- What you’re doing in your organisation that is newsworthy – you might not realise it is!
- How to write a press release that different media outlets will notice.
- How to get the most from social networking websites.
- How to maximise exposure with interviews and who is the best person to interview.
| Testimonial from IT company MAST ICT Ltd, after completing the course: ‘I found the ‘Use the Media’ training very useful. In particular, Saffron’s inside knowledge, as a consumer of press releases, was extremely valuable. This training will definitely help to improve the quality of our press releases in future. I came away from the training with a structured approach I can follow and lots of useful tips on what editors are looking for and how to make your press releases stand out from the crowd. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who needs to get their message heard in the media.’ The next courses are on:TUESDAY 21ST MAY 2013TUESDAY 18TH JUNE 2013TUESDAY16TH JULY 201310AM-4PM for £99+VATBook Now | ![]() |

This half day refresher course is for press officers and media staff. We’re not trying to train you to do the job you already do. This is about making sure your skills are bang up to date, so your stories will get into the news quicker and stay there for longer.
You will learn –
- Why some stories make the news and some don’t.
- How to maximise your coverage in a world where all journalists need audio and visual content, as well as the written word.
- How to get the most from using social media.
- Deadlines for all local media outlets and advice on how to take advantage of those limits

Testimonial from charity HALOW after completing the course:
“I was quite surprised at what an “old hand” like me could still learn! I realised that working for a charity, I will have to be more “hard hitting” in the future – “soft” stories just won’t bring in the funds we need to continue our work! Thank you Saffron and all at Eagle for a most interesting course and for helping me make my New Year resolutions to be more dynamic.”

This course is for two different groups of people:
- Those who have to give interviews in their official role – e.g., councillors, police, fire etc.
- Those who want to start publicising their organisation by being an expert on a certain topic, e.g., finance, youth matters, housing. Journalists always need experts.
You will learn:
- How to get YOUR message across, no matter what the journalists’ agenda.
- What makes a good soundbite or quote.
- How to deal with a crisis/difficult conversation

Testimonial from Woking Borough Council after completing interview training:
“It was extremely helpful to hear what a journalist is looking for from an interviewee, what makes a good interview and how we, as a local authority, can work better with our local media. The role playing experience was invaluable, as testified by the fact that the attendee then felt comfortable going in to a recording studio and giving an interview’ for real’ straight after the training.
