BNI Guildford walks up Snowdon for the Surrey Air Ambulance
When: Saturday, 08/08/2009, AM
Where: Snowdonia - North Wales
Information: BNI Guildford is a local Business networking group that meet every Wednesday from 6:30am to 8:30am at Merrist Wood Golf Club in Worplesdon, the whole purpose of our meetings is to refer business to one another knowing each member is proven to be trustworthy. As a group we have been supporters of the Surrey Air Ambulance for some time now and decided this year to try to raise a large sum for the Trust. Why do we want to do this? The Surrey Air Ambulance provides a vital emergency service to the people of Surrey. They carry a Paramedic and a Doctor on Board, which is rare, and means that they can perform life saving surgery at the scene of the accident or incident and be there within 15 minutes. It also means that patients can be taken to an appropriate major hospital or specialist unit in a fraction of the time taken by a traditional ambulance; they truly do carry out some amazing life saving work. The slight snag is that it costs the Trust, on average, £1000 every single time the Air Ambulance takes off and despite the work they do, they receive no funding from Government, so are totally reliant on public donations and fundraising . That’s why we want to do it... Our Goal... Our goal is to raise at least £3000 – saving at least 3 lives. If we can meet this target then the sore feet and the camping will have been worth every blister and mosquito bite (we’re camping next to a river!!!!) Your help... If you would like help and would be happy to make a donation then please visit our Just Giving page http://www.justgiving.com/bniguildford . If you would like to find out a little more about the Trust and the fantastic work that they do then please visit http://www.surreyairambulance.co.uk
