Norbury Park Wood Products Open Day

Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th September 10.30am–12noon & 2pm-3.30pm
Come and see what the Surrey Wildlife Trust team get up to at the sawmill. There will be demonstrations of how we produce furniture in the joinery workshop, and the process of the timber waste, plus demonstrations of woodland craft such as charcoal making. Gates open at 10am and tours start at 10.30am and 2.30pm. Call 01372 457 377 for further details.

Haslemere Food Festival 2010

The Haslemere Food Festival will be launched on Saturday 4th September at 12pm, at the Aga Shop in West Street with Chocolate Cake. Regulars at the Food Festival also include the Haslemere Beer Festival, Supreme Sausage Competition, the Italian Market, and Pat Chapman’s Curry and Thai Nights. Throughout the 2 weeks demonstrations, activities, talks, dinners, tours and tastings.

In aid of Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and Help for Heroes the centre will be offering taster fitness classes, bouncy castle & face painting, nordic walking, pilates, a gym challenge, a prize draw, refreshments and much more.....entry is free however donations would be most appreciated as all proceeds go to the charities.

Royal flush in Surrey

It's the the 100th anniversary of the death of the man who invented the toilet and the Rural Life Centre pays tribute with an exhibition.
It celebrates the life and work of the man who invented the toilet who promoted sanitary fittings to Victorians and the products were supplied to Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace.
There will be plumbing artefacts and several rare examples of antique baths.

Tours of the Spike Heritage Centre

The Spike Heritage Centre are hosting tours of the original Casual Ward, on the site of the former Guildford Workhouse.
The Spike has been sympathetically restored and now offers an opportunity to explore the lives of the inmates and to experience one of the few remaining buildings with stone breaking cells.
For small groups and individuals they are open on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.
Schools and larger groups are welcome at other times by arrangement.
Evening tours are recommended.
Entry is £3.50 for adults, £2.50 for children and concessions.
