Exhibition telling the story of the Princess Mary's Village Homes in Addlestone. Opens Wednesday 23rd June and brings together objects from the Museum's collection and the Surrey History Centre with memories of former residents.
The homes were the brainchild of two local ladies, to build homes for daughters of local women prisoners. Building started in 1871 in Addlestone.

Norbury Park Wood Products Open Day - Wed 11th Aug 2010 to Sun 12th Sep 2010

Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th September 10.30am–12noon & 2pm-3.30pm
Come and see what the Surrey Wildlife Trust team get up to at the sawmill. There will be demonstrations of how we produce furniture in the joinery workshop, and the process of the timber waste, plus demonstrations of woodland craft such as charcoal making. Connaught Leisure will be OPEN to all for fun and fitness activities from 10am - 2pm on Sat 25 Sept. In aid of Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and Help for Heroes the centre will be offering taster fitness classes, bouncy castle & face painting, nordic walking, pilates, a gym challenge, a prize draw, refreshments and much more.....entry is free however donations would be most appreciated as all proceeds go to the charities.

It's the the 100th anniversary of the death of the man who invented the toilet and the Rural Life Centre pays tribute with an exhibition.
It celebrates the life and work of the man who invented the toilet who promoted sanitary fittings to Victorians and the products were supplied to Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace.
There will be plumbing artefacts and several rare examples of antique baths.

Tours of the Spike Heritage Centre - Sat 9th Jan 2010 to Fri 31st Dec 2010

The Spike Heritage Centre are hosting tours of the original Casual Ward, on the site of the former Guildford Workhouse.
The Spike has been sympathetically restored and now offers an opportunity to explore the lives of the inmates and to experience one of the few remaining buildings with stone breaking cells.
For small groups and individuals they are open on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.
Schools and larger groups are welcome at other times by arrangement.
Evening tours are recommended.
Entry is £3.50 for adults, £2.50 for children and concessions.

Guildford Play Rangers come to parks and open spaces to provide play resources, equipment and ideas for children to encourage them to play outdoors in their local communities.
This project is aimed at children aged 8-12 years, under 8s are welcome but MUST have parental supervision as this is not a childcare service.
It's a free service sponsored by the Big Lottery Fund. We play sports, games, arts, crafts and more!
