Tuesday 30th January

30th January 2012

Well it's nice to be back this morning and hearing all about PG's Burns party, which he held over the weekend!

I was lucky enough to be invited to Chessington Zoo where the children and I had a great day,

chessington

we loved the squirell monkey enclosure and the girls loved seeing the lions too...

We played another round of the £1000 minute and Nicky from Farnborough managed to score 4 out of 10. You can play along online here then play tomorrow at 8.15am for your chance to win £1000

We also had another round of the Mystery Voice, this morning's two wrong answers were Jodie Marsh and Fatima Whitbread.

Play along tomorrow morning at 7.15am if you think you know who this is

Monday 30th January

30th January 2012

It’s Monday morning – and I had to cope without Bev (who was still coming to terms with Sunderland’s poor one-all draw against lower opposition). I think I more or less muddled through…

Vicky from Ash Vale correctly guessed Sophie Ellis-Bextor and “Murder on the dancefloor” in the early Morning shower, we had Sally Bercow and Margaret Thatcher as wrong guesses in the mystery voice and Angie from Farnborough who scored 5/10 on the £1000 minute…don’t forget you can have a go at today’s questions again here.

Our Monday moaning line was open again of course – and did a lot of business! Teenagers, parking, overtaking in the Hindhead Tunnel and my decision not to play our regular “Wake Up” Flintstones tune today at 7am all came under the spotlight. But hopefully those who got involved now feel a little better!

Have a great Monday – and hope you can join us some time from 6am tomorrow.

Friday 27th January

27th January 2012

Another week done and the final day of our soundcheck, so if you want to influence the music we play, get involved here

On this morning's Breakfast show we played another round of the Mystery Voice. Have a listen to this

and if you think you know who it is give us a call Monday morning at 7.15am. This mornings wrong answers were Sarah Ferguson and Rosemary Conley. You can view all the wrong answers and see a list of all the prizes you could be winning here

This weekend PG will mostly be celebrating Burns Night with a Haggis feast on Saturday night and I am off to watch Sunderland V Middlesborough in the cup. What ever you are doing have fun, and don't forget to join us on Monday from 6am for your chance to win £1000 in 60 seconds, until then...

Thursday 26th January

26th January 2012

Morning or should I say G'day as today is Australia Day!

So this morning we were discussing old wives tales and which ones were true and which ones are a load of rubbish. Were you told that carrots would help yuo see in the dark? Well they actually could! Have you heard that eating celery burns off more calories than it contains? Well that is in fact true too, however sitting crossed legged does not give you  varicose veins and cracking your knuckles does not bring on arthritis.

We also had a big announcement this morning. We revealed the first act to be confirmded to play this years Guilfest is...

.Olly_New

Olly Murs! Keep listening for more acts being confirmed over the coming weeks.

It was a 4 out of 10 for Tom from Milford on this mornings £1000 minute. See how you would have done by playing along here. You can go for the £1000 tomorrow morning at 8.15am.

Have a great Thursday, we'll be back tomorrow morning from 6am, until then...

Wednesday 25th January

25th January 2012

Happy Burns Night....morning?!

What better way to celebrate than with a bowl of Haggis

pg bev haggis

and a traditional scottish dance from our very own Adam Morris dancer who for one day only was Adam Highland Flinger ;)

adam fling

If you fancy Haggis for your supper tonight, check out our Haggis recipe here on the Taste section of our website

We also came across an interesting article in one of todays papers. It seems being the boss makes you feel physically taller than you actually are! So, as PG is my boss I asked him to tell me the height he believed he was. His answer, 5ft 8inches. I then took a couple of rulers (super precise) and carefully measured him, only to find him exactly 5ft 6 1/2 ;) So, for once a survey that seems to be spot on. Unfortunately when asked his waist size he seemed to come in about ten inches smaller than he actually was!!!

OOh and don't forget, tomorrow morning at 8.10am we have an exclusive Guilfest anouncement!

We'll be back from 6am, until then...

Tuesday 24th January

24th January 2012

I was all a bit frantic on this morning's breakfast show, mostly because our telephone lines were down which resulted in PG being this morning's £1000 minute contestant with me asking him the questions! Now, as fond as I am of  Peter, I was pretty concerned about how smug he would be if he managed to get 10 out of 10 but I needn't have worried, he ended up with 9! Phew....

You can play along online here now to see how you would have done. Would you have done better than PG? If you fancy playing along for the £1000 tomorrow, give us a call at 8.15am.

We also had a bit of a 'conflab' about an article in todays papers. It seems that us ladies feel alot more pain than men. Women reported more intense pain than men in 14 of 47 disease categories. Men did not report more intense pain in any category and in the rest they were even...mmmm i think it just proves women just give more honest answers in surveys ;)

Ah, the Haggis has just arrived for tomorrow, it's in the fridge so ready for consumtion in the morning as part of our Burn night celebrations. Make sure you going us tomorrow for more chances to win and the odd highland fling! Have a great Tuesday, until then...

Monday 23rd January

23rd January 2012

It's Monday again and there is nothing we like to do more at the start of the week than have a good old Monday Morning moan! I was grumbling about supermarket bags. I forgot my re-usable ones yesterday and after putting my washing powder and a few other bits in a plastic one it split!! I ended up using 3 bags together to make it strong enough!! Now surely this is worse than using just one strong plastic bag??? PG was moaning about his mp3 player not working in his new docking statio, and Chalky called us to moan about DJ's talking over the end of songs ;)

We also embraced Chinese New Year. This is the year of the Dragon and Dragons are the free spirits of the zodiac. The Dragon is a beautiful creature, and everything Dragons do is on a grand scale, big ideas, ornate gestures and extreme ambitions.

chinese

PG is also already getting ready for further celebrations this week. With Burns night on Wednesday the Haggis is on the menu for Wednesday mornings breakfast show. As you can imagine, he can barely contain his excitement!

We added some delicious chocolates to our Mystery Voice prize pack this morning and you could be winning those along with a stack of CD's and DVD's if you can tell us who this is ...  If you think you know play tomorrow morning at 7.15am.

We'd also love you to tell us what you think of the music that we play. Is there a song you'd like us to play more? Or maybe there's a song you just can't bear to hear anymore, either way we would like you to let us know. You can do that here as part of Eagle Radio's Soundcheck survey.

Well enjoy your Monday, and I'll leave you with a text we received from Chloe this morning after our moaning, "why moan about life, just enjoy it, you only get one :] have a fab day" too true. Catch you tomorrow from 6am, until then...

Friday 20th January

20th January 2012

Happy Friday!!!

No early morning shower winner. Booooooo. That does however mean we will have a roll over on Monday with 2 pairs of movie tickets to be won. Yaaaaaaaay! Listen at 6.15am to hear if you can identify the song that PG and I are singing in the shower.

So a jolly old team effort on this morning's Certificate PG. Peter, Jacob and Sons, Anthony The Legend Of Zahra, Adam Morris Dancer and myself acted out a scene from a movie in the style of Gary Barlow, (to celebrate the fact that he is 41 today) Well done to Kelly in Guilford who somehow?! correctly guessed that this   was from 'Honey I Shrunk The Kids'.

OOOhhhh so close on this morning's £1000 minute too! Linda in Aldershot scored 9 out of 10! Do you think you could have got all 10? Play along online, here and see for yourself, and then play for the £1000 Monday morning at 8.15am

Have a smashing weekend, catch you Monday, until then...

Thursday 19th January

19th January 2012

Ooh sorry this is a bit late today, I just popped out for a little spray tan to perk me up on this damp Thursday and also to try and not look anemic next to PG who was back on the show this morning after a week in Egypt!

We happily (ish) got back into the flow this morning with a cherpy Early Morning Shower. Well done to Damian from Aldershot who won a pair of movie tickets and tickets to the The Comedy Club at Ramada Guildford/Leatherhead ffor correctly guessing PG and I were singing Junior Senior's 'Move Your Feet' in the shower.

We also had another wrong guess on the Mystery Voice.     That, is not Denise Van Outen, but if you think you know who it is give us a call tomorrow at 7.15am and you could be winning our prize pack.

It was a 4 out of 10 on the £1000 minute this morning for Adrian in Frimley. Find out how you would have done by playing along here.  You can play for the £1000 tomorrow morning at 8.15am.

Do you like a little gossip? Well the good news is, it is actually good for you! Research suggests regular chit chat can help control bad behaviour, prevent someone being exploited and even lower stress!! What a great reason to down your work for 5 minutes and have a good old natter! Well, thats what I'm telling PG ;)

Would you like a say in the music that we play here at Eagle Radio? Well our Soundcheck gives you the chance to do just that. Tell us what you want to hear/never want to hear again/who your favourite artist is etc and influence the music that we play. Find out more here

Enjoy your Thursday and catch PG and I tomorrow morning from 6am, until then..

Wednesday 18th January

18th January 2012

Dealing with early mornings is one thing but having to face Wes' garlic breath at 6am is quite another! Thank you Sally, who called in to advise him to go and buy and munch on some parsley. Thankfully, he did

wez

Are you one of those people who when out shopping in a supermarket, you pop something in your basket then a few aisles later decide you don't want it and just pop it down on any available shelf? I have to admit, I do!! Not if it was something from the freezer section, then I would make sure it went back in A freezer section, and something from A fridge would go back in another fridge (just not the correct one) but I did anger Wes with this. It is one of his pet hates, people not putting things back on the correct shelves. Lisa from Woking said "I'm a good girl and I always put unwanted items back in the right place. However, I'm sometimes tempted to put them into someone else's trolley instead!" Own up, are you are grocery mover?????

So we had a great effort on the £1000 minute this morning. 8 out of 10 for Laura from Ash Vale. Why dont you play  tomorrow morning at 8.15. You could be winning £1000!!!

Talking about tomorrow, Eagle Radio are helping the businesses of Surrey and Hampshire with a truly exclusive offer. Our Managing Director, Paul Marcus, will be live on the Peter Gordon Breakfast show to reveal this amazing opportunity. Make sure you join him from 8am.

PG is back tomorrow too! After weeks of panto followed by a sunny break he will be live from 6am with more chances to win on the Early Morning Shower and Mystery Voice too. Have a great Wednesday and don't go moving any tin of beans in supermarkets. Catch you from 6am, until then..

Tuesday 17th January

17th January 2012

Would you ever dump someone by text? Well it seems one in ten of us have done just that. This led Wes and I to reveal the worst ways we have been dumped, Wes was given a letter with the old, ''it's not you it's me' line and I was given a Wallace and Gromit card by a boyfriend once telling me it was over! Nice eh?

Lot's of winners on the show this morning. On the Early Morning Shower it was Steve  Ashover from Farnham who won himself a night out at the movies after correctly guessing Wes and Bev were singing Coldplay's 'Paradise' in the shower.

Eric from Guildford won himself £50 worth of petrol after his car sticker was spotted on his car by our Sticker Patrol. To be in with a chance of filling up your car on us, make sure you get your Eagle Car sticker from here.

Jim was our contestant on this mornings £1000 minute. He scored 6 out of 10 but got himself Cher Lloyds album Sticks and Stones for taking part. Why dont you play along here and see how you would have done and then play for the cash tomorrow at 8.15am.

Keep warm today (bbbrrrrrrr) and join us tomorrow for Wes' final breakfast show before PG returns, catch you from 6am, until then...

Friday 13th January

13th January 2012

Friday 13th, hence we were talking superstitions bright and early this morning. Do you salute a magpie? Do you walk under ladders? Jemma got in touch on the text to tell us.. 'I never walk across 3 drains n if I'm forced to I say bread and butter out loud 3 times! Get rather odd looks!'  I bet you do Gemma!

We had hoped line 13 may be lucky on the £1000 minute this morning but not so. Cheryl from Aldershot managed to score 7 out 10. You can play at 8.15 on Monday for your chance to win cash! We also have a roll over Early Morning Shower on Monday as nobody managed to guess the song Wes and I were singing  in the shower this morning.

Now, I must admit to feeling a bit disappointed this morning after a survey revealed the age that most people believe youth ends at 32!! Owwww, that hurt Wes and I (both 33). People also think old age starts at 54!!! Now with Madonna being 53 I am not sure I am with the majority on this one! I think we'll quickly move on from this survey ;)

The breakfast show 'am dram' team, made up of  Wes, Anthony The Legend of Zahra, Jacob and Son's, Adam the Morris dancer and myself  put on our eyeliner tis morning for a spot of acting. We read a scene from a movie (in the style of John Anderson, the referee from Gladiators) and Wendy from Farnborough managed to correctly guess it was from 'The Railway Children'. She won herself 'A Monster in Paris' goody bag. Well done Wendy. Our world famous movie competition,  Certificate PG, retuns next Friday.

Love Crew's Sky, this morning drove Ben, Katie, Ollie and Chloe to Bentley Primary School in Bentley as part of our Crew Ride to School. Don't forget if you see the Love Crew out and about to give them 'a beep and a waaaaave' !

fri 13th jan 12 (Small)

Wes is off to take his good wife out for dinner tonight (and hopefully put his hand in his pocket for once ;)) and I shall be watching Sunderland hopefully beat Chelsea tomorrow. Whatever you are doing this weekend I hope you have fun. We'll catch you on Monday morning (supposed to be officially, the most depressing day of the year) and cheer up the start of your week with some great music and more chances to win, until then...

Thurday 12th January

12th January 2012

Thursday, the new Friday, and the day we told you about one way to dispose of your needless Christmas Tree!

You may not have heard about the annual Christmas tree tossing competition that took place in Germany but the annual celebration saw 47 year-old Frank Schwender from the town of Frankeneck retain his title with a total distance of 20.3 metres over the three Christmas tree throwing disciplines - 'Weitwurf' (javelin-style), 'Hammerwurf' (hammer-style) and 'Hochwurf' (high jump-style). We do not recommend you do this at home!!!

We also discussed with a little horror, the amount of money that Beyonce and Jay Z have so far spent on baby Blue Ivy Carter. Wait for it... 1 million pounds! The high chair alone cost £10,000 and is covered in crystals! Now please, when you wean a baby their first foods are things like mashed carrot or butternut squash which will indeed be smeared all over the crystals. Money well spent? mmm...

highchair

We started a brand new Mystery Voice today too. Listen here and if you have any idea who it is, give us a call tomorrow morning at 7.15. Tomorrow also see's the return of our Friday morning movie competition Certificate PG. Wesley, Anthony the Legend of Zahra, Jacob and Sons, Adam the Morris Dancer and myself gather together to become the breakfast show 'am dram' team. We act out a scene from a movie and you have to tell us where it is from. That's at 7.45am. Friday morning's breakfast show also includes a Crew Ride to School, £1000 minute and the Early Morning Shower so catch us from 6am, until then...

Wednesday 11th January

11th January 2012

We had another Mystery Voice winner this morning, the second in just over a month. Well done to Gloria from Witley who correctly guessed that this...  was Anita Dobson. She won the current prize pack which included a 'winters worth of warmth' in the form of verdo renewables wood briquettes, cds, books, and a board game.

That means that we will have a brand new Mystery Voice starting tomorrow morning at 7.15am.

So this morning we heard about the most amazing fridge about to hit the shops. Yes, I said fridge, but get this...you programme it with your personal details, BMI etc and when you open the door it tells you what you should and shouldn't be eating. It also allows you to view your fridge from your mobile phone so you know what you need to buy at the supermarket, and has a facility to scan the barcode of every item that goes into the fridge allowing it to remember the expiry date of every item inside - and send you a text when each one is nearing its end. We like that!

We also had another round of the £1000 minute. Well done to Hannah from Cranleigh who this morning managed to answer 7 out of 10 questions correctly. The £1000 minute returns tomorrow morning at 8.15am for your chance to win  a grand in 60 seconds!

Wes and I will be back tomorrow morning from 6am, until then...

ps last night Wes woke up with the cat on his head, lets hope for a better night tonight ;)

Tuesday 10th January

10th January 2012

So Wes and I were full of joy this morning after the lovely, chirpy Jane in Blackwater managed to correctly guess that we were singing Beyonce's 'Love on Top' in the shower. You could be winning a night out at the movies on the Early Morning Shower tomorrow morning at 6.15am if you can guess the song we are singing/screeching!

After my 4 year old has started learning yoga at school, Wes and I remebered our PE lessons back in the day. Did you have PE kits or did you, like us have to parade up and down the school hall balancing bean bags on your head in your pants and vest?

Talking of underwear we also heard about the hundreds of young people, including Londoners who joined the eleventh edition of the annual No Pants Annual Subway Ride worldwide on Sunday.

pants tube

What a journey that would have been!

Jim from Bognor Regis was our contestant on this mornings £1000 minute. He scored 6 out of 10. You can play along with today's questions here and then have a go at winning the cash tomorrow morning at 8.15am.

We'll be back tomorrow from 6am, until then...

Monday 9th January

9th January 2012

Happy Monday!

Wes and I were back on breakfast as PG recovers from his role in panto. I actually went to see it on Saturday night and I must admit he was actually very good! He has just popped into the office this morning and it looks like he has still got make up on... I think he has turned into a bit of thespian lovey!!! Heaven help us.

Back on the breakfast show this morning Wes and I played another round of the Mystery Voice which has been running for a week now.

Who do you think this is?   This morning's wrong answers were Adele and J K Rowling. If you have an idea of who the voice belongs to then give us all tomorrow at 7.15am and you could be winning our growing prize pack.

So we heard that Beyonce and Jay Z became proud parents to Baby Blue Ivy Carter this weekend. Apparently they paid £850 000 to hire the entire top floor of a private New York hospital, ordered takeaway and wine, and put masking tape over the security cameras. Sounds like a right old party doesn't it!

Talking of parties, join Wes and I tomorrow from 6am for more fun and some great music, until then...

Friday 6th January

6th January 2012

What a busy old morning!

Around 7.45 the breakfast team gathered together for our Friday morning movie competition Certificate PG. Wes, Anthony The Legend of Zahra, Adam the Morris dancer, Jacob and Sons and myself  acted out a scene from a movie which Lucie in Guildford correctly identified as "Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit". She won herself a pair of tickets to "Apassionata" at the 02 Arena.

We also had a winner on the £1000 minute. Well done to Tony in Bordon who scored 10 out of 10 with 20 seconds to spare! Play along here and see how many you would have scored, then go for the cash next Monday at 8.15am. Could you be our third winner in three weeks!

We heard a report today in the newspapers, 4 out of 5 men revealed they are concerned about their figures. Their biggest worry was a beer belly, followed by lack of muscle tone and ‘moobs'. It seems they are just as concerned about their body shapes as ladies. Maybe it's time to see some supportive male underwear in the shops? Can you imagine having a seperate mens lingerie section in department stores!

So this weekend is PG's final weekend playing the King, in Jack and The Beanstalk at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre. I shall be going to boo and hiss at him on Saturday night. If you fancy going, there are still a few tickets left and you can get them here

Whatever you are doing this weekend have fun, and catch us Monday morning from 6am, until then...

Thursday 5th January

5th January 2012

I love 4 day weeks :)

This morning Wes and I enjoyed another windy morning together! We kicked off the show with an Early Morning Shower winner at 6.15am. Well done to Tina from Bisley who won a night out at the movies and a months membership to Peak fitness in Woking after correctly guessing we were singing 'Zoom' by Fat Larry's Band in the shower.

We also heard about the latest 50p coin design, which includes a description of the offside rule on the back!

olympics-offside-coin-495003279

There are half a million of these in circulation at the moment, that's a right riveting read for 500 000 of us ;)

This did however make Wes and I think. What else could we learn about on the back of a coin? Instructions for setting the dvd player to record or maybe how to poach an egg? This list is endless...

It was a 3 out of 10 this morning on the £1000 minute for Rachael from Aldershot. If you want to test how you would have done then play along online here and then you can play for £1000 tomorrow morning at 8.15am.

Have a super Thursday, catch you tomorrow, until then

Wednesday 4th January

4th January 2012

Morning!

Can you believe it has been 25 years that we have been enjoying Kylie Minogue on our screens, gosh that does make me feel old. Wes and I remebered our favourite Kylie Minogue moments this morning and unsuprisingly Wes picked out Kylie in her gold hotpants and I remembered with emotion Charlene and Scott's wedding. We even managed a little singalong to their wedding song, 'Suddenly' by Angry Anderson, remember that?

We also heard about a survey from a Guildford record shop revealing the slowest selling records. It seems vinyl from Abba, Rod Stewart and Elton John is just not in demand at all. This got us talking about our record collections and Wes recalled the happy times he spent as a youngster 'break dancing' to Electric Boogaloo Breakdance 2. He then went on to demonstrate  for us...

Wes does the caterpillar ...

Diversity, be afraid, be very afraid!

So PG is happily strutting around the stage in eyeliner and a crown for his final week in panto. You can still go and see him in Jack and The Beanstalk at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford if you haven't already. You can get your tickets here oh yes you can etc...

Don't forget to join us tomorrow for another chance fo you to win £1000 on the £1000 minute at 8.15am and gym membership to be won on the Early Morning Shower at 6.15am.

Enjoy finishing up the left over Christmas cake and the last of the smelly cheese, catch you tomorrow, until then...

Tuesday 3rd January

3rd January 2012

So Wes and I will be keeping you company over the next few weeks while PG finishes Panto and takes a well (ish) deserved break!

We kicked off this mornings breakfast show debating on how stylish darts players are, trying to spot Christmas presents that people are wearing/using on their first day back at work and also introducing a brand new Mystery Voice.

Have a listen here
and if you think you know who it is give us a call tomorrow at 7.15am. We'll also be back with another chance for you to win £1000 on the £1000 minute and we'll be singing in our early morning shower at 6.15am.

Get the decs down, eat up all the left over chocalate and try not to be blown over. Enjoy your Tuesday and catch us tomorrow from 6am, until then...
