Friday 30th September

30th September 2011

It's Friday and the sun is shining!!! It's going to be fabulous day and glorious weekend hurray, hurray, get your bikini's and trunks out today!

We kicked off the show this morning with a rollover early morning shower. Well done to Claire in Knaphill who correctly guessed PG and I were singing Coldplay's 'Viva La Vida' in the shower. "

Now you know we like a bit of drama in the morning, so it's always very exciting at about 7.45 on a Friday Morning when we are given our scripts for our Friday morning movie competition Cert PG. We may not be Colin Firth or Kate Winslet but this morning PG, E Dubz, Jacob and Son's and myself put on our lippy and acted out a scene from a recent film. Well done to Thomas from Woking who knew the movie was Rio! Thomas won himself a super Harry Potter 3D poster.

It was a 9 out of 10 for Trevor from Fleet on the £1000 minute, sooooo close! See how you would have done by playing online here and try for real at 8.15am on Monday. If you answer all 10 general knowledge quiz questions correctly in 60 seconds you will be £1000 better off :))))

So with temperatures soaring this weekend I hope you have a great few days, I hope to enjoy what will probably be the final BBQ of the year and I'll catch you from 6am on Monday when Darren will be in for PG, until then...

Tuesday 27th Sept

27th September 2011

Heeellllooo! Happy Tuesday! Well this morning we heard about the best way to avoid embarrassing your kids. It seems saying 'innit' and wearing your trousers too low are definate no no's so get your belts and braces back on!

This morning we had a very happy Preeti from Ash Vale who won on our Early Morning Shower after guessing PG and I were singing Take That's 'Shine' . Preeti revealed she recognised the song as her Take That knicker's say 'Let It Shine' on one of the cheeks!!!

It was a 6 out of 10 for Bob from Woking on the £1000 minute this morning. Don't forget you can play along online here. Give us a call tomorrow at 8.15am and if you are on the lucky line and can answer all ten questions correctly in 60 seconds you will win yourself £1000! :)

Enjoy your Tuesday and get your summer clothes back out of the wardrobe as the temperatures this week look to soar into the high 20's from today!

Join PG tomorrow from 6am, until then...

Monday 26th September

26th September 2011

Well that weekend flew by didn’t it! So it's back to business this morning kicking off the breakfast show with Mel from Normandy winning on our Early Morning Shower after correctly guessing that PG and I were singing  Phil Collins’ ‘Against All Odds’ in the shower.

We had another wrong guesses on the mystery voice too. It is not Gary Barlow! Have a listen to the voice here and then play along tomorrow to win our growing prize pack.

So we opened the lines this morning for another Monday Morning Moan! Andy began by telling us about his brother in law. He went to get on a bus locally, this morning, to get to his first day at his new job. His fare was £1.60. He gave the bus driver a £5 note and was then asked to get off the bus as the driver had no change! Because of that he was late for his first day! Ali then contacted us to say her husband is a bus driver and apparently they get given a £20 float, once they have used it they need to start using their own money!!!

Karolyne got in touch for a moan too. Hers was to all those fairweather footy fans that will snap up all the tickets for Shots vs. Man U before the real fans get a chance, just because it's a premiership team!

We had another round of the £1000 minute too. James from Haslemere scored 7 out of 10. Don’t forget you can play along here and see how you would have got on and then play along for real tomorrow at 8.15am.

Have a lovely Monday and join us tomorrow from 6am, until then…

Thursday 22nd Sept

22nd September 2011

Now shopping has always been one of my favourite things (along with my family, friends and spanx) but it is such a hassle to get around a shop (or six) with a dawdling, grumpy man in tow don't you think? Which is why I was delighted to hear about a new creche for men! Yes, this morning PG told us all about a 'manland' that was tested out in a certain Swedish furniture store. It is a room to drop off your men as you go shopping and they get to play on games consoles, watch tv and eat hot dogs! The best bit is after half an hour us ladies get an alarm sounding to go and fetch them! This is genius and may well make my Saturday afternoons sooooo much more enjoyable ;)

Mind, I tell you what would make them even better, a bit of cash to spend too! This morning we tried and failed to give away £2000 with our exciting game of  Hide and Seek and then Sue from Camberley scored just 4 out of 10 in the £1000 minute so no cash won there either! Do you think you could do better than Sue? Well have a go here at playing online and then try tomorrow on the breakfast show at 8.15am

We will also be giving you the chance to win tickets to see a show in London's west end with our Friday morning movie competition Certificate PG! If you can guess the movie that the breakfast show 'am dram' team are acting out you could be off for an evening in the big smoke!

We a had a 'celeb' visitor on this morning's breakfast show too. PG's old chum Steve McFadden popped in to talk to us about his upcoming panto role and give us a bit of an insight in to what goes on behind the scenes in Eastenders. If you missed it or would like to listen again you can do so here

have a lovely day, PG and I will be back tomorrow from 6am, until then...

Wednesday 21st Sept

21st September 2011

Oooh our Hide and Seek competition is still going this week. Today you could win £3000 if you can guess the location of our hidden microphone. Find out more here.

Do you often find yourself trying to disguise your yawns? Do you (like me) try and turn them into a cough or sneeze so as not to look rude? Well you no longer have to. A study has found that yawning is not just a sign of boredom or tiredness, it is actually the body's method of cooling the brain, and in order to function more efficiently, the brain needs to be cooled down. Thus when a person yawns he or she instinctively increases blood flow bringing cool air. So lets all yawn wide and proud!

So as the models are strutting their stuff as part of London fashion week we are also geting into glamour mode with our very own 'Evening of Glamour' which is being held next Thursday (29th September) at House of Fraser Guildford. If you fancy a watching a fabulous catwalk show, with drinks, canapes, beauty workshops a fabulous raffle and much more get yourself a ticket here. All money raised goes to the Eagle Radio Trust, helping support local charities, individuals and non-profit making organisations.

So it's a rollover Early Morning Shower tomorrow with 2 pairs of movie tickets up for grabs, and another chance for you to win £1000 on the £1000 minute at 8.15am. Actually, would you like one of tomorrow mornings questions now? Ok  then, shhhhh don't tell PG...  'How old is the Queen?'. There you go one of tomorrow's £1000 minute questions a day early ;) Get another 9 correct and you could be winning that cash tomorrow morning, until then...

Tuesday 20th September

20th September 2011

It's day 2 of our exciting new competition 'Hide and Seek' and with nobody winning yesterday, today's prize fund is £4000! Fancy getting your hands on the cash? Find out here how you could be winning ;)

Are you always dreaming about cake? Do you find it a nightmare to walk past a bakers without stopping to get a chocolate eclair? Well this morning we heard about a new study which reveals some of us find these sweet treats harder to resist because of the way our brains are wired! Scientists have found that a key part of the brain which stops the body from acting on impulse – and gorging – does not function as well in those who are overweight or obese. As you can imagine, PG was thrilled with these finding and with that as an excuse scurried out to buy a few custard filled donuts! (only joking)

Well done to Sandra from Addlestone who was this morning's £1000 minute contestant. She scored 6 out of 10 but for taking part got herself Joe McElderry's album, 'Classic' and goes into Friday's draw to win a Christmas party for 20 people at the Holiday Inn, Guildord. Play along yourself, here and have a go at winning the grand tomorrow morning at 8.15am, until then...

Monday 19th September

19th September 2011

So PG just loved and I mean loved sharing the story from the newspapers today about female drivers..."23 per cent of a panel of 2,000 women admit to applying make up while driving. Of those 16 per cent admit to having crashed or have had a near miss as a result".  Ok, now I will be the first to admit it is obviously not safe to be applying your mascara whilst driving at 70 mph around the M25 but surely you can't tell me this is just females! I have come across many a male with a finger up a nostril and Susan from Guildford got in touch to say she was overtaken on the A3 by man using an electric razor and to make things worse, he was leaning over to look in rear view mirror!

Now today is International Talk Like A Pirate day so greet your friends not with “Hello,” but with an “Ahoy, there me ‘earty!”   By the way, why did the pirate buy an eyepatch? Because he didn't have enough money for an ipad!

So a 6 out of 10 on the £1000 minute this morning for Chris from Guildford. See how you would have done by playing along here and play for the cash tomorrow morning at 8.15. But we weren't just trying to give away £1000, oh no no no we also have £5000 up for grabs today with our brand new competition Hide and Seek. Fancy winning the dosh? Find out how here.

Join us tomorrow morning from 6am for all the usual including a brand new Mystery Voice after Pat in Oakhanger correctly guessed today's was Keith Richards, until then...

ps We had a station day out on Friday and went to Camberley, bowling. PG had finished 9 points ahead of me so on my last bowl I had to get 9 to draw or all down to beat him. Find out what happened here ;)))

pps he had sausages down the gutter too!!!

Friday 16th September

16th September 2011

Oh how we laughed today with a few with little jokes to get us into the weekend mood! Thanks to Rob for getting in touch to tell us about his dog Minton who ate three shuttlecocks last night. BAD Minton! :)))

We also had another round of Certificate PG. Pete, Jacob (and Sons), Anthony (The Legend of Zahra) and myself acted out a scene from Watership Down in the style of The Prodigy!! Well done to Alison from Aldershot who correctly guessed the film and won herself a pair of tickets to see Jersey Boys in London's West End.

It was a 3 out of 10 for Katie from Frimley on this morning's £1000 minute. Your chance to win £1000 by answering 10 general knowledge questions correctly in 60 seconds returns on Monday morning at 8.15am.

We heard how all bad smells come from men! Well that's a bit of an exaggeration but, one in five men admit to never using deodorant or any other kind of body spray. The same proportion say they don’t ever wash their hair with shampoo....

Sorry, I got distracted there, I was reading a book about the history of glue and I couldn't put it down ;)

Well have a lovely weekend and make sure you join us on Monday from 6am for more chances to win big money on the £1000 minute and also our huge game of Hide and Seek,  until then...

Thursday 15th September

15th September 2011

Have you ever thought you heard a little dickie bird ask you 'how do you do?', or a magpie shout 'alright darlin'? Well this morning on the show, we revealed that you may have just heard exactly that! Naturalists have reported a number of pet parrots that have been taught to repeat phrases by their owners at home before escaping from their cages and then passing on the technique to the wild flocks they join. Now I haven't yet had a robin ask me the time, but I have heard a bird in my garden repeating a well known mobile phone ringtone!  What a nice story :)

We also found out this morning what a growing number of men are spending their money on...underwear! But hold on a second, not any old baggy Y fronts, or cartoon boxer shorts, oh no no, it's...Manties! Skimpt, tight fitting men's pants. 'Manties' are not only being snapped up at lightening speed but the word is becoming so popular the Oxford English Dictionary is considering adding the word to it's vocabulary! Incase you can't quite visualise 'Manties', here's a quick glimpse ;)

manties

FYI information this is not PG.

We didn't manage to give away £1000 on the £1000 minute this morning. It was Tania from Farnborough who managed a 5/10. Play along here and have a go at winning that cash by getting 10 out of 10 tomorrow morning at 8.15am .

PG and I will be back tomorrow from 6am with some Friday fun including our movie competition Certificate PG so until then...

Wednesday 14th September

14th September 2011

So what do you think the sexiest  professions are? Footballer? Traffic warden? Wrong! In a survey published today, women are most attracted to fireman and city workers! A bit of buff or a nice fat pay packet, difficult choice!

Today, PG also revealed 4 hours of our working day is spent chatting about past holidays with work mates or online shopping. Oops, it as at this point I thought I heard the kettle boil and made a swift escape to the kitchen ;)) I did hear him continue (as I scarpered) that 4pm Wednesday afternoons is the peak time for online shopping from the office, so get your credit cards out and ready to go!

We didn't get to give away £1000 this morning. It was Sarah from Southampton that scored 5/10. Find out how you would have done by playing along here and have a go for the cash tomorrow morning at 8.15am.

Have a great day and join PG and I tomorrow morning from 6am, until then...

Tuesday 13th September

13th September 2011

So how many times in your lifetime will you say sorry? How about up to eight times a day - equating to 2,920 times a year and 233,600 times in a lifetime! The research revealed we mostly use it as a response to someone else's mistake  or treading someones toes. I think saying sorry is polite and very British so let's make sure we save our sorries!

Now would you believe we had another winner on this morning's Mystery Voice! Hannah from Farnborough guessed that this voice    was Dawn French. She won herself a yummy chocolate hamper! A new mystery voice starts tomorrow at 7.15am.

You also have another chance to win £1000 on our £1000 minute tomorrow at 8.15am. It was a 4 out of 10 for Emma from Farnborough this morning. Why don't you play along here and see how you would have done.

I was pretty mortified with one story today. PG revealed that one third of the ice cubes in drinks we get from restaurants and pubs are actually made from dirty water. Apparently poor hygiene practices when preparing ice are to blame. Yuck yuck yuck. My advice is to either have your drink a bit warm or carry a coolie bag around with ice cubes in;)

Well, PG is off to see the dietican now so find out how he got on tomorrow morning after 6am, until then...

Monday 12th September

12th September 2011

Mondays are officially the worst day of the week! According to a survey more than half of us will spend the day complaining, particularly in the morning. The common reasons for being a grump on a Monday are dreading the week at work and being miserable after over indulging at the weekend. The survey also revealed that feeling fat and having nothing to wear also put people in bad mood. Well, hopefully we helped to cheer you up this morning as we played you some great music, including the new Coldplay single, 'Paradise'. We also gave away our Mystery Voice prize pack after only 3 days! Well done to Tania in Guildford who correctly guessed the voice was Victoria Beckham. A brand new Mystery Voice starts tomorrow at 7.15am.

We soooo nearly cheered up Tony in Bordon too. He came so close to winning the £1000 on the £1000 minute getting 9 out of 10. The question he didn't answer was, 'X Factor judge Tulisa is a member of which band?' Do you know the answer? Well maybe you should have a go at winning that cash tomorrow morning at 8.15am.

Well enjoy your Monday, stay dry and join PG and I tomorrow morning from 6am, until then...

Friday 9th September

9th September 2011

With this weekend full of reality TV, on today's breakfast show we heard from Russell Grant who was telling us why he decided to take part in this years Strictly Come Dancing and we also chatted to One Direction who found fame on last years X Factor. They told us how they selected their first single. You can here the interview in full with Kim on 'Showbiz Saturday' tomorrow morning or here on our podcast directory.

We also had another round of our Friday morning movie competition Certificate PG! It was Sarah from Guildford who guessed that we were acting out a scene from The Emporors New Groove and she won herself a pair of tickets to see new West End musical Rock of Ages. Certificate PG returns next Friday at 7.45am.

Do you like a bit of glamour in your life? Well forget London, Milan, Paris and New York, on Thursday 29th September  Surrey and Hampshire's got style - and bags of it!! Well, it was lovely to have Matt Cardle join us this morning on the Breakfast Show. He was talking to us about his new single "Run For Your Life" that was written by Gary Barlow. If you missed it this morning or would like to hear more, check out the interview in full here

When you're feeling a bit peckish what do you snack on? A packet of crisps? A tuna sandwich? Well, according to the newspapers today the most popular snack is ...Sushi! Although PG and I both agreed that we'd rather have a pastie!

Also in the newspapers today was the real reason many of us still aren't cycling to work, and it is ... helmet hair! Yes, many of us (mostly women) do not want to arrive at our work place with our hair all messed up or flattend by a helmet. Check out this ladies solution!!

HairHelmet

We had a 7 out of 10 on this morning's £1000 minute. You can play online here and see how you would have done. You can play for the cash tomorrow morning at 8.15am and you could also be winning tickets to a fantastic new  Westend musical on our Friday morning movie competition Certificate PG. Ladies, how would you fancy pulling back the duvet to see your man curled up, fast asleep, dressed in a man size baby-gro? Attractive? I think not, however a major department store has began selling these male "onesies" with poppers down the front for easy loo trips for £95! This is all after sales of mens pj's have risen 80% following a number of cold winters and with another big freeze forecast for this year the man-gro is set to be a favourite for chaps.

Ross Thompson and his sisters sent us a photo modelling their all-in-ones and looking rather fetching too!

onsies

We had a big winner on the Mystery Voice this morning! Lucy from Farborough correctly guessed that the voice was Jake Gyllenhaal. She has won a fab Mystery Voice prize pack that includes an Italian hamper worth £350! Well done Lucy! A brand new mystery voice starts tomorrow at 7.15am...

PG is back tomorrow too. Join us from 6am for another chance to win £1000 on the £1000 minute, until then...

Size really does matter...

Is your man a passionate chap? Well, the length of a man’s fourth finger may be linked to his libido, scientists have found. When you are sitting watching Red or Black tonight, grab his hand and have a look to see if his 4th finger is longer than his index finger. If it is you are a very lucky bunny ;) We checked out Darren's length this morning...

mmm.....

So, as many schools went back today, we had our first crew ride to school of the new term. Love Crews' Sky, drove Matthew, Hugo, Harry and Charlie to Haslemere Prep School. We'll have a crew ride to school each morning this week.

We also have a chance for you to win £1000 each morning on the £1000 minute. To win the cash you need to answer 10 general knowledge questions in 60 seconds. Get them all right and you will win the grand. You can play along with this mornings questions here

Join Darren and I tomorrow from 6am for more fun frolics and a chance for you to win a fresh pasta maker!

Until then, stay dry

Monday 5th September

5th September 2011

Most of us are back to normal this week after the summer (that never really happened), so with all the usual goings on resumed it was only right to open our Monday Morning Moan line too. PG kicked off the moaning with a grumpy rant about light bulbs! Oh yes, he was very upset to find shops seem to be selling fewer and fewer light bulbs and he was confused by the wattage as well. Anne from Woking called up to moan about parents who wish their children were back at school. "A child is for life, not just until they start school" she told Surrey and Hampshire!  Oh and a success story too. Chris had called up a few weeks ago to moan about men hounding her in supermarket carparks to have her car washed. Well, since she got it off her chest on our Monday Morning Moan line she hasn't been bothered by the car washers at all. Thus proving, this is not just therapy, we also get results, either that or they have all been off on their holidays ;)

We had a 7 out of 10 on this morning's £1000 minute. Not a bad start to the week from Neil from Woking. Find out how you would have done by playing along here. Why not go for the grand tomorrow morning at 8.15am?

We also heard the relevance of the month you were born to the job you end up doing. A child born in January is more likely to become a debt collector, February an artist or traffic warden, while March babies tend to go on to be pilots. April and May babies have a pretty even spread of jobs and summer babies have a much smaller chance of having a highly paid profession. If you were born in autumn you are more likely to be a high flyer and born in December you have a high chance of being a dentist! Being born in October I'm quite happy to say this must all be incredibly accurate ;)

So Darren is in for PG for the next few days, so join us from 6am tomorrow for another chance to go for that grand, until then...

Friday 2nd September

2nd September 2011

That was a funky little short week wasn't it?! I blinked and it was Friday, which of course meant it was time for another game of Certificate PG, our Friday morning movie competiton where PG, Anthony the Legend of Zahra, Jacob and Sons and myself, act out a little scene from a movie. This morning, Joe from Bramley correctly guessed the film we were performing was Ice Age 3 and won himself a family pass to Thorpe Park! Well done Joe.

So in the showbiz news today we heard about Simon Cowells new game show "Red or Black" that kicks off tomorrow night. It's a game show that could see contestants winning a million pounds by choosing either Red or Black and it has been described as Britains biggest, noisiest and most expensive TV show ever!  David Hasselhoff was involved in challenge as part of the show, that saw him catapulted into the air. Listen here to him talking to Jacob (and Sons) about his experience!

Shocking news this morning about bread! Did you know that more than one in four loaves of bread sold in supermarkets and high street bakeries contain as much salt as a standard bag of ready salted crisps? What better excuse to buy a breadmaker and make it yourself ;) Either that or eat a bag of Frazzles for breakfast!

A 6 out of 10 this morning on the £1000 minute for Ian from Tidworth. Another chance for you to win a grand returns at 8.15 on Monday morning. In the meantime you can see how you would have got on by playing along with today's questions here

Have a lovely weekend, I know I'll be spending much of it sewing on name tags before the start of school next week, ooh and a little bit of X factor action in there too. Join PG and I from 6am on Monday for more chances to win, including the soundtrack from new film One Day, until then...

1st September 2011

A nip and a punch for the first of the month! Here Autumn begins, and according the weather reports this morning, the storms will be starting next week with flooding to follow! Oh joy, looks like that's the end of flip flopping for this year and time to get out the boots... mind you not a bad excuse for a little bit of shopping, I have my eyes on these little beauties ;)

boots

Now today we heard that the most popular car colour is blue, followed by silver. I must say that I don't think I see that many blue cars on the road but thank you to Debbie in Farnborough for emailing us a photo of her lovely blue car called Nancy.

blue car

Today was a month on from PG's first assesment with Hubert Bland at Surrey Human Performance Institute. After pretty shocking findings, Pete has been changing his lifestyle under the guidance of Hubert. Yesterday he was weighed and put through his paces to see if his fitness had improved over the last month. Listen here to find out what happened...

So a short week means tomorrow morning sees another round of Certificate PG, our Friday morning movie competition. You could be getting your hands on a fab prize for your whole family to enjoy. Join us at 7.45 am for your chance to be winning. Also another chance for you to win £1000 returns at 8.15am with the £1000 Minute, go on "be lucky" , until then...
