Once again Eagle Radio teamed up with Kebur Garden Materials to help change an area of rundown land into a paradise

Congratulations to the winning community project - Change of Scene in Rowledge who won themselves £2,000 worth of materials from Kebur's vast range of stock to use on their project.

Change of Scene provide educational, respite and leisure activities for disadvantaged local children. The £2000 worth of Kebur Garden Materials that they have won, will be used to lay a pavement from the cabin to the barn as they are having to walk through ankle deep mud at the moment!

change of scene

“Change of Scene provides educational, respite and leisure activities for disadvantaged and abused local children.  We seek to make a life-changing difference for the children who attend. They are  generally youngsters who are failing in main stream education but when given the opportunity to work in a natural, outdoor environment, absolutely excel.

In this, our third, year of operation, we have provided over 450 kids days (a kid day = 7 hours of one-to-one attention.) Next year we hope to achieve 600 or more kid days.

Work is underway to convert a large stable into a kid's cabin, with meeting room, kitchen , wc's & shower (which is also to accommodate a parent & young persons' weekend club); a barn into a dairy, tack room & tractor shed; fitting out a polytunnel, excavating a pond and laying water & electricity to a ponies' field shelter.

However, we are based on clay and for half of the year the children are literally over their ankles in thick mud. The cost of laying paving from the cabin to the barn and field shelter is proving to be prohibitively expensive and so £2,000 worth of paving materials from Kebur would make a huge difference.

Why does our project deserve to win? Well it's the children who attend Change of Scene who deserve to win because they are the most wonderful, enthusiastic,  hard-working youngsters you could wish to meet and their lives have been hard enough without having to plough through mud when moving from building to building."
